The Washington DC - The National Mall Satellite Poster Map
In October of 2013, the U.S. Geological Survey chartered a high resolution ortho-imagery mission over the Nation's Capital. The resulting dataset depicted the District in crystal clear detail down to less than 12 inch spatial resolution. A subset of that production is shown here.
This scene portrays the National Mall from the Lincoln Memorial to the west,to the Capitol Building to the east. Of note, the Washington Monument is shown covered in scaffolding. It was under repair from damage that occurred from a 5.8 magnitude earthquake in August, 2011.
From America's largest producer of hand-picked, custom processed, multi-spectral LANDSAT 8 and ASTER satellite imagery provided by the US Geological Survey and NASA.
