Fort Smith Arkansas From Space Satellite Poster Map
On a cool and crisp morning in October of 2014, the U.S. Geological Survey's LANDSAT 8 sensor captured this scene depicting the second largest city in Arkansas as it lay along the winding Arkansas River. Fort Smith National Historic Site can be seen just north of the convergence of the Arkansas and the Poteau River.
Taken from over 438 miles above, this scene is an example of multi-spectral satellite data combining aspects of both visible and short-wave infra-red bands recorded at 30 meter spatial resolution. The data has been sharpened to the sensor's 15 meter pan-chromatic band to increase resolution and detail of the resulting scene.
